Trash Burning
Apart from the holiday of San Juan where trash burning is part of the celebrations, trash burning is a common way of disposing of garbage which the municipal garbage collection system is unable to deal with. This includes anything from plastic bags, to baby diapers. The smell of burning garbage permeates neighborhoods throughout Cochabamba and causes serious health risks.
